Customer Reviews

Nobody wants a horse collar around their neck while catching. All the better chest protectors from Easton, Rawlings and Diamond have thick bands of padding that go behind the neck. What is the purpose of padding behind your collar while catching, besides trapping more heat ?
Samurai has just the right abount of padding, and they use this lightweight firm material that deflects the impact to your chest but deadens the ball so it doesn't bounce away. The Drylite material keeps it cool by letting sweat evaporate.
Not shown in the picture: sholder pads, side protectors and crotch flap are all attached by velcro so you can totally customize

This is the second one of these chest protectors I have purchased. The first one (2 years ago) was a smaller size, and my son needed a bigger one. Also, someone too small for the last one we had borrowed it, took off one of the shoulder wings and lost it, so we moved up a size anyway. My son requested this one again because it is not restrictive in the shoulder area but it provides enough protection there against some seriously fast/hard pitching. We live in a very hot summer climate, and he might catch 2 or more games a day in a tournament. It seems to be comfortable enough that he lasts without becoming fatigued and overheated. Great purchase.
